Check the file extension first — Mernyx opens .mmd and .mermaid files. If the extension is right but the diagram stays blank, the source may contain a syntax error the engine cannot recover from: the editor pane will show diagnostics marking where. If you believe the file should parse, send it to us and we will look within a day.

Mernyx reimplements Mermaid layout natively, so a handful of constructs still render slightly differently from the reference SVG — known gaps are listed on the homepage under Coverage. If yours is not on that list, send the source and a screenshot: differences between what the engine should draw and what appears are treated as bugs.

Structural canvas editing (adding, connecting, restyling nodes) currently works on flowcharts, state, mindmap and agentflow diagrams. For the other families the canvas is read-only while the source stays fully editable — the app disables the menu item and tells you why rather than hiding it. Coverage is expanding in each release.

File › Export, or ⌘E. PNG, SVG and PDF are all produced from the same scene the canvas draws. PNG and PDF offer scale and margin options; PNG can export with a transparent background.

No. Rendering, layout and export all run locally on your Mac. The single optional network feature is AI generation and fixing, which uses your own API key (stored in your macOS keychain) and talks straight to your chosen provider — diagrams never pass through our servers. There is no account and no telemetry.
